Ephodi

אפודי (ר' יצחק בן משה הלוי), פירוש למורה נבוכים ב, ח, ג (ירושלים, תש"כ); ז"ל

אמנם הוא נמשך להאמנת גלגל קבוע וכו', ויש לי עיון בזה כי אפי' שנודה שגלגל חוזר ומזלות קבועין כמו שהוא האמת עדיין אפשר לומר כי מצד פגישת גלגל אחד בגלגל אחר יתחדש מהם קולות עצומים כדעת יחזקאל, ונראה כי לפי הנחת גלגל קבוע ומזלות חוזרין מתחייב יותר שיהיו להם קולות מצד הקשת הכוכב בגלגל אבל כשנניח שהגלגל חוזר אינם מקישים זה לזה אלא מחופפים ומצד החפיפה לא יתחדשו קולות עצומים, עם שאפשר לבעל דין לחלוק: עכ"ל

"[Chazal's view that the spheres make sounds] follows the belief that the sphere is fixed and the stars move [on it],..." I have difficulty with this passage, for even if we grant that the sphere moves and the stars are fixed on it – as is the truth – one can still maintain that the collision of one sphere with another will produce mighty sounds, as was the belief of Ezekiel. Seemingly, the assumption that the sphere is fixed and the stars move necessitates more that they make sounds, resulting from the star's knocking against the sphere; but if we assume that the sphere moves, [the sphere and the stars] do not knock against each other, but merely rub – and rubbing will not produce mighty sounds.
